When to ring
Some electrical problems wait. Others should not.
If you are not sure whether it is an emergency, ring anyway and we will tell you honestly on that call. We would rather talk you down than have you sit on something unsafe overnight.

Safety switch
Safety switch keeps tripping?
A safety switch that keeps tripping is doing its job. It is telling you there is a fault somewhere on that circuit. Resetting it again and again does not fix the fault, it just hides it for a bit.
We test the circuit, isolate the problem and trace it back to whatever is causing it, whether that is an appliance, a fitting, a damaged cable or water where it should not be.

No power
Lost power but the neighbours have not?
If everyone around you still has power and you do not, the problem is usually somewhere in your own installation rather than out on the street.
We check the switchboard, the circuits and the installation to work out where the supply is being lost. If it turns out the fault is on the network side and belongs to Essential Energy, we will tell you that straight, rather than charging you to find out.
