How it works
How fault finding actually works
Fault finding is diagnostic work. Until we have tested the circuit, nobody can honestly tell you exactly where the fault is or how long it will take to repair, and anyone who quotes a fixed price over the phone for an unknown fault is guessing at your expense.
So fault finding is done on a Do & Charge basis: you pay for the time it takes to find it. You will know our rate before we come out, so there is no surprise on the invoice.
Once we have found the problem, we stop and tell you what it is before any repair work goes ahead. Nothing extra happens without you saying yes to it first.
Common question
Why does my safety switch keep tripping?
Safety switches cut the power when they detect certain faults. That is the entire point of them, and a tripping switch is a working switch.
The cause could be an appliance, a damaged cable, water getting in, a failing fitting or a problem somewhere else on that circuit. What matters is finding out which, rather than resetting it every morning and hoping.
If it will not reset at all, or it trips the moment you push it back up, that is worth a same-day call.
